RunSignup has released a working draft of Looking Forward Guidelines for Races. This living document was created with input from dozens of race directors, timers, governing bodies, and other industry partners. It is intended to provide ideas for a path forward for races when coronavirus restrictions are lifted. The guidelines are suggestions and ideas to consider as races look towards restarting, and every event should consult and comply with national, state, and local governmental orders as well as health official’s recommendations. The document will be updated as new information and ideas become available.

RunSignup expects that individuals, companies, and groups will be creating official industry policies and guidelines in the coming weeks and hopes that the living document with crowd-sourced information can help to inform their guidance. The document is open under the Creative Commons License, and organizations are encouraged to download it, modify and adapt it to their needs, and redistribute the content under their own name and brand.

Bob Bickel, RunSignup Founder and CEO said, “The endurance community is made up of tens of thousands of micro-communities – races, clubs, stores, timers, nonprofits, race organizations, sponsors, volunteers, and more. This diversity brings strength to our community, and results in innovation. We hope that this aggregate source of best practices, creative ideas, and considerations from individuals and organizations that have been in the industry for decades can be a resource for everyone as we define our industry’s new and healthy normal. Just as races have rapidly adapted to virtual events, races will learn how to put on safe events to get those micro-communities back in action.”

RunSignup welcomes all feedback and ideas and expects the document to continue to evolve and grow as regulations and recommendations change. For more information, visit: https://runsignup.com/lookingforward.
