Movemint, a modern technology platform for endurance events, is proud to announce its partnership with For All Mothers+, an impact nonprofit breaking barriers for mothers through the lens of sport.
As part of this collaboration, Movemint is powering the MomForward Movement Series, a month-long celebration of motherhood with a series of community-led runs taking place in cities across North America. Participation is free for any in-person event, but donations are welcome and will go towards funding For All Mothers+’ programs advocating for maternal equity. Supporters can also join the series on their own time by registering for the virtual event, or hosting their own using For All Mothers+’ free digital and physical hosting kit, which includes a playbook on how to host a family-friendly event.
“Through our programs and advocacy, we are codifying how the sports industry and beyond can create a more equitable future for mothers and parents,” said Justine Fédronic, Community and Partnerships manager at For All Mothers+. “We are proud of our collaboration with Movemint to help facilitate the adoption of family-friendly event standards by race organizers. Our MomForward Movement Series serves as the largest rallying point for our community to come together to celebrate motherhood, raise awareness and funds for maternal equity programs, and demonstrate the demand for supportive infrastructure for families.”
For All Mothers+ partnered with Carleton University’s Health & Wellness Equity Research Group to lead new research on the barriers limiting pregnant and parenting athletes’ ability to participate in running events. The Race Towards Equity and Accessibility study identified three primary barriers: lack of childcare/stroller division, inadequate provisions for pumping or breastfeeding mothers, and inflexible deferral policies that accommodate various points on one’s motherhood journey. More than 92% of the survey participants also “strongly agreed” that they would prefer to support races that offer accommodations for families and mothers.
In addition to supporting event registration for the series, Movemint is teaming up with For All Mothers+ to break down some of the barriers identified in the study via the introduction of Event Tags. Event organizers can now leverage the Movemint platform to highlight features that make their event intentionally more accessible to families, versus just another event. Organizers can tag events to make it easier for parents to find and participate in races that meet their needs, such as stroller-friendly routes, on-site childcare options, lactation stations, and family-friendly activities.
“Partnering with For All Mothers+ reflects Movemint’s commitment to making sport and movement accessible for every participant,” said Rebecca Moll, Head of Partnerships at Movemint. “We’re honored to support their mission and help bring the MomForward Movement Series to life in communities across North America.”
Registration for MomForward Movement Series events is now open on Movemint. Participants can also support For All Mothers+ by donating directly on the platform.
On Saturday, May 3, REI Berkeley will host the MomForward Movement Kickoff, launching the month-long celebration of motherhood and maternal equity across North America. Olympian and For All Mothers+ Founder Alysia Montaño will be in attendance to lead a warmup, share the organization’s mission, and join the community run/walk.
