RunSignup | GiveSignup, the leading technology provider for US races, opened registration for their 2021 Planning Kickoff on December 9, 2020. This virtual event includes three fast-paced, high level sessions to help race organizers use the lessons of 2020 to prepare for an unconventional 2021. Registration for the event is free, but space is limited.

With the endurance industry experiencing continued impact from COVID-19, the 2021 Kickoff is focused on the events RunSignup | GiveSignup expects to find the most success in the winter and spring: hybrid events. A hybrid event is any race, run, walk, ride, or fundraising event that incorporates both in-person and virtual elements, making it the ideal event type for a turbulent time. Areas of emphasis will include:

  • What to expect in 2021
  • How to use a hybrid format to build a cancel-proof event
  • Technology solutions to optimize both the virtual and in-person options
  • Creative fundraising through virtual, socially distant, and hybrid events
  • Race day preparations from start line management to virtual results

RunSignup | GiveSignup has seen an uptick in in-person events over the last few months, with 35% of October races including in-person participation. While the safe execution of those events has helped build confidence in both participants and local officials, uncertainty around the pandemic is expected to impact events well into the new year.

Bob Bickel, RunSignup | GiveSignup Founder and CEO said, “Putting on an interactive, high-quality hybrid event is absolutely the best way to ensure that your event has a built-in contingency plan – and that you can accommodate the maximum number of participants. But it is also true that creating a dual track event requires more preparation and planning. That’s why we’re hosting this kick-off now – to give event organizers a jumpstart on next year and make sure they have the tools to be successful.”
