RunSignup, the leading technology provider for US races, has released a new Virtual Challenge capability to help race organizers and nonprofits offer long-term challenges to keep their community engaged from a distance. This initial release allows participants to submit results to challenges for automatic tabulation, with more features coming soon.

The basics of the Virtual Challenge Option include:

  • The Race Director sets up a Challenge where participants can endeavor to reach a goal and compete with others over a period of time.
  • The Challenge participants complete Activities over a that set period of time. These activities can be whatever the race director determines: miles run, kilometers cycled, pushups completed, laps swum, etc. Activities can be submitted with or without an attached time.
  • The activities can be Tallied to show the total of the activities over time: miles run in 4 months, pushups done in a week, etc.

RunSignup Founder and CEO Bob Bickel said, “Our customers have come to us with so many creative ideas for challenges to keep their communities active and reaching for goals. This new Challenge technology makes it easier for them to create and manage events that are truly unique to their brand and mission.”
