RunSignup, the leading registration provider for U.S. endurance events, announces the ability for race participants to search for events offering non-binary gender features. RunSignup currently has more than 2,500 events offering a non-binary gender option. This is RunSignup’s latest effort to better support inclusive and flexible gender options within the event registration process. The new search capability follows several other inclusive innovations such as the ability for events to add a non-binary gender category. This is then able to integrate seamlessly with other RunSignup products like RaceDay Scoring so that gender divisions publish official results for a non-binary category.

“We’ve been looking at ways to ensure those that identify as non-binary are able to be fully supported by event organizers and not feel forced to identify as traditional male or female categories. We know this can be a touchy subject, especially in the endurance space, so offering flexible options helps events to offer an inclusive race experience and embrace diversity. We hope this search capability will help people find the event that most suits what they wish to experience,” said Bob Bickel.

Event organizers can choose to add non-binary gender options for their events and will automatically appear in RunSignup’s search field when selected. RunSignup currently has more than 25,000 events using its registration software and the search for events is widely used by participants throughout the country. A wide variety of event types use RunSignup, including 5ks, half marathons, marathons, cross country, ultras, trail, triathlons, cycling, mountain bike, gravel grinders, ski, swimming and stand up paddle board events. Currently, ten percent offer a non-binary category and the company expects this number to increase as social adoption increases. Events are encouraged to work with their timers to ensure registration gender categories are integrated with the published scored results.
