The endurance event production and service company looks to Dumontet to help lead the business in its next phases of growth.
Brooksee, the endurance event production and service company behind the Las Vegas Marathon, Portland Marathon, Mesa Marathon and REVEL Race Series, has announced the hiring of Phil Dumontet as their new CEO. In this new role, Dumontet will guide the strategic development of Brooksee’s portfolio of events and the launch of its new timing technology offering.
Dumontet is the founder of Boulderthon, Colorado’s fastest-growing running series and one of the fastest-growing marathons in the country. He will bring to Brooksee over a decade of leadership experience building, scaling, and selling high-growth companies in the technology and running industries. In addition to being named to Forbes 30 Under 30 and the Boulder Valley 40 Under 40, Dumontet is also a contributor to The Washington Post, Entrepreneur Magazine, Business Insider, Fast Company and Inc. Magazine. Dumontet’s passion for the endurance sports industry is driven by his own athletic pursuits. He is a 17-time marathoner and holds a personal best of 2:42 for the 26.2 mile distance.
In addition to growing Brooksee’s world-class event portfolio, Dumontet will oversee the go-to-market strategy and launch of Brooksee’s new timing technology, which features unprecedented active, disposable timing chips with up to 100 checkpoints for marathons for down to the quarter-mile tracking. The technology enables up to 17 times more timing splits than the industry average, leading to the most accurate participant tracking on the market, plus new AI-driven runner insights, safety features, and course-cutting prevention.
Brooksee was started in 2012 by electrical engineers who ran marathons, with the vision to create an all-in-one event production powerhouse where technological innovation and endurance events collide. The company specializes in services for endurance events of all types, including timing, results, equipment rental, athlete tracking, bib production and much more. This unique background has led to immense growth, kick-starting the next phase of new leadership and expansion opportunities.
“I can not express how thrilled I am to start this next chapter in my career, especially with a company like Brooksee,” said Phil Dumontet, CEO of Brooksee. “Brooksee is a company that brings tremendous firsthand experience to our industry, as a leader in both endurance event organization and timing technology, and I’m honored that they’ve selected me to lead the company in their next phase of growth. I already see tremendous growth potential, and I can’t wait to get started.”
“We are excited to bring Phil onboard as CEO to lead Brooksee’s growth, and are confident his leadership and proven playbook will strengthen the company and build upon our strong foundation”, said Lane Brooks, President of Brooksee.
As Dumontet takes on this new leadership role at Brooksee, he has appointed founding team members David Benjes as Race Director and Alexa Squillaro as Event Director of Boulderthon to oversee its continued success. Dumontet will remain an Executive Director with the Boulderthon race series. Boulderthon, which partnered with Brooksee for timing and event services in 2023, will renew its contract for Brooksee’s industry-leading timing technology for its 2024 race. The event will also transition registration and photography services to Brooksee’s all-in-one race director platform.
Brooksee events host 50,000 participants across nine races nationally, including three world-class/premier marathon series plus six REVEL Races in the portfolio with scenic, downhill courses.
Brooksee is the parent company of the Las Vegas Marathon, Portland Marathon, Mesa Marathon, and REVEL Race Series. Brooksee focuses on elevating the event experience and specializes in event production and event timing. Brooksee will produce nine events in 2024 and will be the official timing provider for 125 additional endurance events from running to cycling and beyond.
